Problems with CARFAX: Share your story!
This blog is a forum where people can share the negative experiences they have had with CARFAX vehicle history reports. If you have a horror story about how you relied on a CARFAX report while making your vehicle purchase please share it here! Perhaps together we can help to educate and warn others about the inaccuracies and shortfalls of these reports. Then they will not be fooled by CARFAX's misleading and deceptive advertising.

Welcome to my blog!
Hello used car buyers everywhere,
My purpose is creating this blog is so that everyone can share their experiences and frustrations with CARFAX reports. I am sure there are many of you out there who have purchased a car or truck in confidence because you paid for or were given a CARFAX history report that showed "no accidents," etc. only to discover later on that your vehicle HAD in fact been wrecked or damaged! Or perhaps you own a vehicle that has incorrect information in its report that CARFAX refuses to correct, leaving you with a significantly devalued vehicle! This is a place where you can share your story so that others may better understand the limitations of vehicle history reports.
To be sure, useful information may be found in CARFAX reports. However, my concern is that this company engages in deceptive advertising, knowingly leading folks to believe that a CARFAX report is some kind of guarantee of quality when, in fact, they know that the majority of accidents as well as many other items in a vehicle's history are not shown in these reports. They also are aware that they have never seen any of these cars in person to see what condition they are actually in. Taking this thought a step further, this company actually HELPS unscrupulous car dealers to sell cars with a checkered past because they can advertise it as "CARFAX certified!" How ironic is it that a company who claims to be protecting consumers from dishonest car dealers is actually often doing the opposite?
My desire is to educate people as to the limitations of CARFAX reports (they can only show what is reported, which is often very incomplete) and to hold CARFAX accountable for their unfair and deceptive marketing.
Do you have a related story or something relevant to add to this discussion? If so, please help in this project and post it here!
Thanks!
